Zagata Powers To Jumps Win

In-form South Island jumps jockey Tom Hazett combined with the Zabeel gelding,
Zagata, to score a notable win on the National jumping day at Matamata on Sunday.

Hazlett was in outstanding form at the Rotorua/Bay Of Plenty Hunt race-meeting and Zagata provided him with one of four winners on the card.

Zagata (ex M'lady's Garter) gave Cambridge Stud proprietors Sir Patrick and Justine Lady Hogan their first success as owners in a steeplechase race.

Zagata, a seven-year-old gelding, has now won six times in his racing career  to date. He is closely related to the well-performed stayer Bel Air who won the Gr. 2 Hawke's Bay Cup and Gr. 3 Carlton Draught Stakes during a successful racing career. Also from the same family is the Group 1 Australasian Oaks winner Royal Regatta.
