Ziegfeld digs deep to strike again

Ziegfeld digs deep to strike again9 Oct 2021

Our unbeaten filly Ziegfeld again showed her quality and tenacity at Matamata this afternoon to keep her perfect record intact.

She traveled comfortably in front and was headed in the straight before the Lance Noble-trained filly responded gallantly for regular rider Samantha Collett to rally strongly and snatch victory.

It was Ziegfeld’s third win on the bounce and her smooth progress now sees her sharing the third line of betting as a $10 chance for next month’s G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas.

A daughter of Teofilo, she is out of our Irish-bred Danehill Dancer mare Sussex Dancer and all seven of her foals to race have been winners and includes the Group 3-placed pair of Reeverderci and Meghan.

Sussex Dancer produced an Almanzor filly in 2020 and her colt by our exciting shuttle stallion sold for $180,000 at Karaka earlier this year. The mare is due to foal to Ribchester this season.
