What an exciting filly Zoustar’s daughter Zouzarella is and she’s quickly progressed to be an unbeaten black-type winner for us.

Following her debut victory at Moonee Valley, she returned there this afternoon to claim top honours in the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes with another powerhouse performance.

She has also displayed her versatility with her first win on top of the ground and today handled the rain-affected going with aplomb.

“She’s handled wet ground at home and in her trials. She is a big-framed filly who enjoys room so that she can go through her gears,” co-trainer Sam Freedman said.

Zouzarella raced back in the body of the field and away from the rail before in-form rider Brett Prebble revved her up 800 metres from home. She wound up strongly to carry the day in fine style.

“She’ll probably head to the Listed Jim Moloney S. and then on to the Thousand Guineas after that. It’s a big thanks to Cambridge Stud for sending us such a beautiful filly,” Freedman said.

Zouzarella was purchased at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale out of Glastonbury Farm’s draft for AU$250,000. She is a daughter of the six-time winner Zazparella (Al Maher).

The dam is a sister to the multiple winner and Group performer Almachino and is from the extended European family of the multiple Group 1 winner and Champion Sire Blushing Groom (Fr), G1 Irish Oaks winner Shawanda (Ire) (Sinndar {Ire}) and the G1 Italian Oaks winner Zabarella (Ity) (Clouet {Ity}).
