Our homebred Livalittle has carved out an impressive record for himself and continued his winning ways on Saturday, saluting for the seventh time from just 15 starts when successfully stepping up to 2000m at Doomben.

While Livalittle clearly has the hot hand this time in, trainer Tony Gollan will resist the temptation to keep him going through the spring, instead sending him for a short but well-deserved break with a lucrative summer target now firmly on the radar.

The race in question is the $1,000,000 Magic Millions Trophy over 2200m on January 17 at the Gold Coast, as part of the rich Magic Millions raceday.

The gelding is out of the Thorn Park mare Hayley Grace and hails from the family of two-time Group 1 winner Te Akau Shark.

Livalittle is a half-brother to three winners, including Hello Hayley, a daughter of Hello Youmzain, who claimed Listed honours last season in both the Dunedin Guineas and Southland Guineas.

Quirky mare Love Symbol was on her best behaviour at Ballarat where she got in the deciding stride to triumph on the synthetic track.

Our five-year-old daughter of Savabeel enjoyed a strongly run race to come from well back on the turn to prevail in a driving finish under jockey John Allen.

“I’m pleased to get that result for Cambridge Stud and the team at home, she needs genuine pace and hopefully we can build off this,” trainer Nigel Blackiston said.

“She’s always showed ability but can get herself a little bit worked up so we keep her calm and happy.”

From the legendary Eight Carat family, Love Symbol is the last foal of the late O’Reilly mare Lovetessa who was successful on two occasions and placed in the G3 Eulogy Stakes.

The dam of five winners, her half-sister Queen Of Diamonds was a multiple Group winner as a three-year-old to share the NZ Bloodstock Filly of the Year title.

Model professional Livalittle overcame a troubled run at Eagle Farm to add to his impressive record.

Our homebred and raced five-year-old didn’t get the rub of the green but showed his quality to get himself out of trouble and find the line best at the end of a torrid 1600 metres.

“He was in a beautiful spot early on and then for one reason or another a horse came back in his face and he lost his position,” trainer Tony Gollan said.

Livalittle was on the move to make up lost ground near the turn and produced a sustained finishing bid in the hands of Daniel Moor to take his record to six wins and six placings from 14 appearances.

“He really wants to win this horse, and he’s destined for much better races,” Gollan said.

The chestnut is out of the Thorn Park mare Hayley Grace from the of two-time top-flight winner Te Akau Shark and the G1 Easter Handicap winner Pondarosa Miss.
