Diamond Show’s latest outing at Wyong didn’t go according to script, but the Almanzor filly was good enough to make it two wins on the bounce.
The Brad Widdup-trained filly had broken her maiden at her previous appearance on her home track at Hawkesbury and followed up with a determined victory at Wyong.
Our homebred three-year-old was ridden by Alysha Collett, who was forced to go to Plan B due to a lack of speed in the 1600 metre contest.
“I knew I was going to get back, but it was a muddling pace so I got around the field early,” she said.
Diamond Show was on the move down the back straight and cornered wide out before finishing strongly to take her record to two wins from seven attempts.
“I got there a bit too soon and she had a good look around, the team have done a fantastic job with her, and she’ll be better on a bigger track,” Collett said.
We offered Diamond Show at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale where she was purchased by John Cordina under his Summertime Holdings banner for A$340,000.
A half-sister to Listed Taranaki Oaks Prelude winner Miss Ella, the filly is a daughter of the Zabeel mare Zenella who finished runner-up in the G1 Queensland Oaks.
All five of her foals to race have been successful and we sold Diamond Show’s unraced brother for A$100,000 at the 2024 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
The mare produced another Almanzor colt last season and is in foal to Chaldean.
From the famed Eight Carat family, the G1 Australian Guineas winner Feroce is the most recent top-flight winner on the pedigree page.
