Our shuttle stallion Hello Youmzain hit new heights on the closing day of New Zealand Bloodstock’s successful Ready to Run Sale.

His son from BMD Bloodstock’s consignment drew an opening blow of $100,000 and spirited bidding followed before the hammer fell at $700,000 with Chinese owner Hongwei Chen securing the colt.

Presented as Lot 283, the youngster is the highest priced Hello Youmzain to be sold at auction in the Southern Hemisphere.

“We knew we were going into the sale with a really nice horse and we were expecting him to be popular,” BMD principal Barry Donoghue said

“We had a reserve of only $150,000 and whatever happened beyond that was a bonus. We couldn’t be happier.”

The two-year-old is out of the Zabeel mare Cool Tart who is a three-quarter sister to champion Australian stayer and G1 Melbourne Cup winner Efficient and a half-sister to G1 Herbie Dyke Stakes winner On The Rocks.

Another Hello Youmzain colt to sell well was KB Bloodstock’s Lot 401 who was secured by Hong Kong owner Yeung Kin Man for $240,000.

He is a brother to Lindsay Park’s two-time winner Hello Romeo with their dam the Shooting To Win mare Julieta who is a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 winner Humidor.

Sword Of State was in the thick of the action during the opening session of the auction with his son, Lot 9, selling for $500,000 to Laming Bloodstock and strong demand continued.

Hong Kong investor Tien Kay Chan went to $420,000 to land Lot 310 from the draft of Kiltannon Stables.

His dam is the unraced Iffraaj mare Duraaj whose family features the Australian Group winners Aliferous and Afraah, as well as the G1 Jim Dandy Stakes winner Scorpion.
