Paul Shailer will ease up on unbeaten youngster Silken Salute before deciding his next move with the talented son of Hello Youmzain.

The Gold Coast trainer produced the juvenile to win on debutat Eagle Farm earlier this month and gelding repeated the dose over 1400 metres on a return visit.

“I’m very pleased with the outcome and he’ll have a freshen-up now,” Shailer said.

“The winter carnival is coming up and he might be a Sires’ Produce or JJ Atkins horse, there’s still plenty of scope for improvement.”

Silken Salute came from the back of the field with a determined finishing run to get in the deciding stride for jockey Andrew Mallyon, sporting our gold and black checked silks.

“It was a really good effort, he was a bit slow away and it took all of the straight for him to get there, but with 59kg he was entitled to,” Shailer said.

We bred Silken Salute and remained in the ownership group after he was knocked down to Shailer and Julian Blaxland Bloodstock for A$60,000 atthe Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

He is the first foal of the Savabeel mare Savasilk, who was successful on two occasions and is from the family of Group winners Miraval Rose, Gypsy Diamond and Finance Tycoon.

Savasilk produced a filly by Almanzor last season and is back in foal to Hello Youmzain.
