Balance Of Power outlasts rivals

Balance Of Power ran out a resounding 3.8-length winner of the final race at Timaru on Wednesday, aided by a rail hugging ride from Hayley Hassman that saw him stretch well clear of his rivals inside the last 100m.

The five-year-old had been knocking on the door in recent starts over shorter trips and relished the rise to 2200m, recording his fifth career victory for Te Akau Racing.

A graduate of our 2022 Karaka Book 1 draft, the son of Almanzor was purchased by Sir David Ellis for $300,000. Balance Of Power is the first foal of stakes winner Respin, and was himself a stakes-placed juvenile, finishing runner-up in the Counties Challenge Stakes.

Respin has a yearling filly by dual Group 1-winning son of Frankel, Chaldean, heading to Karaka in 2027 and is due to foal to Sword Of State this season.
