Diamond day at Doomben

Diamond Show overcame a troubled passage at Doomben to post a well-deserved victory from her new quarters.

The Almanzor five-year-old was a two-time winner from Brad Widdup’s stable before she relocated to Chris and Corey Munce’s Eagle Farm operation and had posted three consecutive runner-up finishes before breaking through over 2060 metres.

“She’s been racing really well and been very consistent,” Chris Munce said.

Our homebred travelled easily in the trail before she was shuffled back cross the top, but once into the clear she lengthened stride well for apprentice Courtney Bellamy to be dominant at the post.

“She’s got a nice turn of foot and there are a few more wins in her, she’s a beautiful mare and a pleasure to have in the stable,” Munce said.

From the Eight Carat family, Diamond Show was purchased by John Cordina’s Summertime Holdings for A$340,000 from our Inglis Easter Yearling Sale draft.

She is out of the G1 Queensland Oaks runner-up Zenella and all six of her foals to race have been successful.

The Zabeel mare produced a colt by Chaldean last season and is due to foal to Sword Of State.
