Dostoievsky turned his form around in fine style at Chantilly with an explosive finishing burst to account for his rivals in the G3 Prix Texanita.

The son of our successful young shuttle stallion Hello Youmzain tucked in behind the pace for rider Christophe Soumillon before lengthening stride impressively to have a comfortable three quarters of a length on his closest chaser.

Trained by Mauricio Delcher Sanchez, the three-year-old has been out of sorts at his previous run when well back in the G3 Prix Djebel but bounced back in his latest test over 1200 metres.

“He was too keen last time, forgot to breathe throughout and just died in the end, but this time he did as I wanted and won very comfortably,” Soumillon said.

Dostoievsky has now won three of his five starts, including victory in the Listed Prix Saraca over 1400 metres in October.

The French-bred colt is a son of the Dawn Approach mare Vlatka, whose three foals have all been successful, and is a half-sister to Group 3 winners Fas and Silva.

A decorated member of the family is champion European sprinter Sole Power, whose 12 victories features two editions of both the G1 Royal Ascot King’s Stand Stakes and G1 Nunthorpe Stakes.

He also claimed the G1 Al Quoz Stakes and placed a further five times at the elite level.
