Progressive three-year-old Drommy was untroubled to justify his short-priced quote at Te Aroha with a runaway success.
The son of our resident Group 1-winning stallion Embellish has placed in two previous appearances for trainers Ben and Ryan Foote and made no mistake this time over 1400 metres.
He travelled well close to the action for rider Sam McNab before striding to the front halfway down the straight and careered way to have more than three lengths to spare at the post.
Drommy is the third winner for the unraced Stravinsky mare Simmonstar, who also has a two-year-old Embellish filly, and is a daughter of the former high-class mare Lashed.
She was successful at Group 1 level in the Zabeel Classic, New Zealand Stakes and Waikato International Stakes and also finished third in other editions of those weight-for-age features.
The Encosta De Lago mare’s decorated CV further boasts elite level placings in the VRC Oaks, Thorndon Mile.
