Youmzaa opens the door to Stakes Opportunity

Homebred 3yo filly Youmzaa produced a powerful finish to score at Cranbourne on Friday night, opening the door to a potential stakes assignment at her next start.

Trained by Matt Laurie, Youmzaa finished runner-up on debut at Bendigo last month behind Over The Bridge, who has since gone on to win at Group 3 level.

By dual Group 1-winning sprinter Hello Youmzain, Youmzaa is out of the O’Reilly mare Critical Angel, who was Group 3-placed over 1400 metres in The Vanity. The same race could now be on the agenda for Youmzaa, with the filly looking a likely contender for the Group 3 contest on Derby Day at Flemington.

Youmzaa initially went through our 2025 New Bloodstock Book 1 draft but was passed in.
