Foire De Trone made her first trip away a memorable one when she accounted for a competitive staying line-up at Randwick with a return for the G1 The Metropolitan later in the spring a longer-term goal.
Trained by Ciaron Maher, the progressive daughter of Almanzor had posted her four previous wins in Victoria and travelled further afield to grand effect with a gritty performance to score over 2400 metres.
Our homebred settled midfield before jockey Ethan Brown urged her forward across the top and she finished tenaciously to continue her hot run of form this preparation, three wins from her last four appearances.
“We have been spacing her runs, but it is a long way to the Metrop,” Maher’s assistant trainer Johann Gerard-Dubord said.
“We will see how she comes through this race. Her coat is still wintry, so there is improvement to come.”
Foire De Trone was purchased out of our draft at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Maher for A$120,000.
She is a daughter of the English-bred Zamindar mare City Fair, bought on our behalf for 130,000gns by agent John Foote at a Tattersalls December Mares’ Sale.
The late City Fair was a half-sister to dual Group 3 winner Kings Fete, and the family has also previously made its mark in Australia with G2 Karrakatta Plate winner Ima Single Man.
