Almanzor’s Epsom hope wins again

Exciting four-year-old Mr Miller added further momentum tohis hopes of claiming a place in the G1 Epsom Handicap with a commandingperformance to give weight and a beating to his Rosehill rivals.

Under 58.5kg, the Chris Waller-trained son of Almanzor rompedto victory by over 1500 metres and has now won three of his five starts and isunbeaten this preparation after an easy resuming victory at Warwick Farm.

“He’s a very push-button type of horse and puts himself intothe right spots in his races. He has the turn of foot to put them awayquickly,” Waller’s stable representative Darren Beadman said.

“I think his rating might be too low to get into an Epsom atthe moment, but he could get there through one of those qualifying races.

“Chris has given him plenty of time, and everything thishorse has done so far has been very impressive.

“He is certainly a horse that is getting everyone to takenotice of him.”

In his latest success, Mr Miller lobbed along in the trail andwas into the clear 400 metres from home before bolting clear to be lonesome atthe post.

“He’s a real natural, this bloke. He’s very fast out of themachines, and then as soon as you put him in a spot, he switches off,” Berrysaid.

“I loved how he picked up around the bend, and he feels likehas so many gears.

“He hit the front a long way out and wanted to have a lookaround, but I still made him find the line, because he will be up againstbigger races and stronger opposition soon.”

Bred by Graham and Helen-Gaye Bax of Blandford Lodge, MrMiller is out of the winning Pins mare Miss Miller and failed to meet his$80,000 reserve when offered at the 2024 New Zealand Bloodstock NationalYearling Sale.

He was subsequently purchased privately by high profileowner Ozzie Kheir and partners after trialling impressively at Taupo from PamGerard’s stable.
