Hello Youmzain filly too tough

Back Of The Bus did her sire Hello Youmzain proud with a defiant performance at Otaki.

She dug deepest to take top honours in the Listed Ryder Stakes to credit our shuttle stallion with the 14th individual black type winner of his burgeoning career.

“She is a really tough and brave filly. She has been consistent all season and has done a really good job,” trainer and part-owner Tony Pike said.

“It was the intention to be the last run of her prep, she has been up a fair while. We will just have a look at what is coming up around the three-year-old races and how she pulls up.

“She probably prefers just a bit of easing in the ground, so we could possibly give her a short freshen-up and then possibly look at the early spring three-year-old fillies’ races before they start stretching up over a trip.”

Back Of The Bus was quickly into stride to race on the pace for rider Lisa Allpress, and after taking control early in the run home, clung on desperately.

“I spoke to Tony before the race and he said to get up outside the leader,” Allpress said.

“It was a matter of when I let the brakes off and she tried really hard.”

Back Of The Bus has now won two of her five appearances and also finished third-up in the Listed Castletown Stakes.

The filly was originally passed in when offered at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Online Sale and was subsequently purchased by part-owner Pike for $25,000.

Bred by Wentwood Grange, she is a daughter of the Medaglia D’Oro mare Luce Del Sole who is a half-sister to stakes winner and Group placegetter Witz End.
