Drops Of God has been impressive in her short career to date and went to another level at Te Rapa where she romped home in the G3 Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes.

The daughter of our shuttle stallion Hello Youmzain came off a short break to annihilate a quality line-up of three-year-olds over 1200 metres.

Trained by Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson, the filly won her first two starts before she was given a break after running third in the G3 Almanzor Trophy.

“She’s an exciting filly and we freshened her up to target this race and we couldn’t fault her at home,” Assistant Trainer Reece Trumper said.

“She led up in her first two victories, and she was a brave third in the Almanzor so we thought we would be positive again. We thought she would be too good and she was.”

Drops Of God crossed the field from the outside gate to lead and bolted clear 250 metres from the post to win in a canter by two and a-half lengths.

“She began like a rocket and got a breather around the bend and did it easily, she’s a top filly,” rider Craig Grylls said.

A half-sister to our G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas winner Karma Lass, Drops Of God is out of the Orientate mare Distinctive Lass and is raced by breeder Nearco Stud with Raptors Thoroughbred.

Distinctive Lass is also the dam of stakes winners Kuro, Distinctive Darci and Southern Lad and is a granddaughter of the multiple Group 1-winning sprinter Special.
