International pedigree comes up trumps

A mare with rich residual value added race performance to her credentials when an easy winner at Hawera.

Our Snitzel four-year-old Marie Antoinette was sent south for her second start by trainers Lance O’Suivan and Andrew Scott and the trip had the desired outcome when she scored over 1200 metres.

She had been caught wide without cover when beaten on debut at Taupo and rider Craig Grylls made use of a better gate to lead and she went to the line full of running to score by a length and a-half.

We purchased Marie Antoinette out of co-breeder Arrowfield Stud’s draft at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for A$425,000.

She is a daughter of the Neo Universe mare Bella Regina, who was stakes placed in her native Japan and her first foal Bella Nova was a Group placegetter.

The second dam Malli Star was a dual North American black type winner and the pedigree also features Gran Alegria, three times successful at the elite level in Japan.
