2YO makes flying start

Better Than Ready youngster Iconic Scenes made a dream debut at Eagle Farm where he produced a tenacious performance to earn major honours.

The Paul Shailer-trained two-year-old had placed in his only lead-up trial and overcame a heavy track to score over 1000 metres.

We bred Iconic Scenes and remained in the ownership group after he was knocked down to Shailer and Hughes Bloodstock for $130,000 at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale.

He settled in third spot in a small field and answered every call from rider Ryan Maloney in the run to the post.

Iconic Scenes is the first foal of the Irish-bred Churchill mare True Icon, a half-sister to Main Desire was a multiple stakes winner, who was secured on our behalf for €60,000 by agent John Foote at the 2022 Tattersalls July Sale.

True Icon had a colt by Farnan last season and recently produced a filly by Sword Of State before visiting Charyn.
