Chaldean made an impressive start at Tattersalls Book 1, with Europe’s premier yearling sale concluding on Thursday in Newmarket.
The dual Group 1-winning son of Frankel was represented by 11 yearlings, all of whom found buyers, achieving a 100% clearance rate at an average price of 162,000 guineas (NZ$401,000).
Chaldean’s top-priced yearling came on Day 2, when James Toller went to 325,000 guineas (NZ$805,000) to secure a filly who is a half-sister to Listed winner Primo Bacio. Offered by Ireland’s Kildaragh Stud, the filly is out of Survenna, a daughter of Arcano.
The final day of trading also delivered two notable results, with a pair of colts each selling for 200,000 guineas (NZ$495,000). Stroud Coleman Bloodstock was first to reach that mark, securing Lot 345, a half-brother to stakes-placed Inishnee out of Al Kirana, a winning daughter of Exceed And Excel. Shortly afterwards, Jeremy Brummitt went to the same price for Lot 366, a colt out of a winning Camelot mare.
Tattersalls’ yearling trade resumes on Monday with Book 2, where Chaldean will have a further 30 yearlings represented.
