Black type performer Queen’s Evidence bounced back to her best for trainers Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson at Riccarton.
The four-year-old daughter of King’s Legacy had finished fifth when resuming at Timaru from a wide barrier and rider Wiremu Pinn made good use of an inside gate this time over 1200 metres.
Our homebred tucked in behind the pace and from a distant third on the turn, unwound powerfully to win with authority.
“They went quite quickly and I knew I’d always catch them, she’s a very progressive horse,” Pinn said.
Queen’s Evidence has now won three times from 13 starts and also has placings in the G3 Gold Trail Stakes and Listed Champagne Stakes to her credit.
She was sold through our draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale to Te Akau’s David Ellis for $220,000 and is a daughter of the High Chaparral mare Enjay.
A half-sister to multiple Group winner Rolling Pin, Enjay is also the dam of Familia who was successful on four occasions in our colours and placed in the G2 Westbury Classic, G3 Bonecrusher Stakes and Listed Hallmark Stud Handicap.
Enjay produced a colt by Hello Youmzain last year and is due to foal to Almanzor.
