New stakes winner for Almanzor

Promising mare Brielle has opened her black-type account with a commanding frontrunning performance at Newmarket.

The David O’Meara-trained daughter of our resident stallion Almanzor was sent straight to the front by rider Danny Tudhope and ran her rivals into the deck over the 2400 metre trip.

She has now won four of her 11 starts and was coming off a sixth placing in the Listed Castle Stakes at Pontefract.

"Her breeders Elwick Stud do a good job, and they will be delighted with that,” Tudhope said.

"She seemed to enjoy it out in front, and it felt like she could go a mile and three-quarters. She's suited by the tongue-tie and got into a nice rhythm, which can be important on this track."

Brielle is out of the Intense Focus mare Craig Agus Spraoi, a half-sister to the G1 Dewhurst Stakes winner and sire Parish Hall.
