Rising southern star Hello Hayley is on target to complete a notable hat-trick of Listed victories.
Our homebred daughter of Hello Youmzain added the Dunedin Guineas to her Southland Guineas title and will now bid for a clean sweep in the Gore Guineas.
“I think we’ll give her a freshen up and go to Riverton and then maybe Riccarton before she goes out,” trainer Sophie Price said.
The rescheduled Gore Guineas has been added to the Riverton program on April 4 and followed seven days later by the Listed NZB Insurance Stakes.
As is her style, Hello Hayley settled off the pace at Wingatui before improving near the turn under regular rider Donovan Cooper.
They were into the clear 250 metres from home and the filly let down powerfully to claim the Guineas and take her record to three wins from seven appearances.
“She’s come on heaps and won relatively easily,” Cooper said.
“I’m very, very proud of her and wow, what a filly.”
Hello Hayley is a half-sister to Livalittle, a four-year-old by The Autumn Sun who recently won his fourth race in our colours from the champion Queensland stable of Tony Gollan.
Their dam is the Thorn Park mare Hayley Grace whose half-sister Bak Da Chief won the G2 Waikato Gold Cup and produced the two-time elite level winer Te Akau Shark.
It is also the family of Pondarosa Miss, winner of the G1 Easter Handicap and her brother Ecuador was a stakes winner and multiple Group 1 placegetter.
