Embellish’s daughter claims Oaks

Emerging filly Kazaru credited our resident stallion Embellish with his sixth individual stakes winner when she triumphed in the Listed Tasmanian Oaks.

She continued her winning roll in style following a previous maiden victory at Sale for trainer Phillip Stokes and relished the step up to 2100 metres to add black type to her record.

Sporting the OTI Racing colours, Kazaru settled well back in the field before improving wide near the turn and finished off powerfully in the run home under multiple Group 1-winning jockey Luke Currie.

"I hoped we might travel closer, so she didn't have too much to do. It was a strong tempo early, and I knew she'd be strong late," he said.

She is now likely to continue her travels and chase further stakes success during the South Australian carnival.

Also placed in last season’s Listed Oaklands Plate, Kazaru was purchased out of Cambria Park’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale by OTI and agent Phill Cataldo for $27,500.

She is a half-sister to Daqiansweet Junior, who won the G2 Adelaide Cup from Stokes’ stable and ran third in the G1 Sydney Cup.

Their dam is the Keeper mare Paulette who is from the family of the G1 Waikato International Stakes winner Veloce Bella.
