Perfect result at Sale

A rise in distance was all Perfect Night needed to shed her maiden tag at Sale.

The three-year-old relished the step up to 1700 metres to deservedly open her winning account for trainers Ben, Will and JD Hayes.

Our homebred daughter of Toronado had placed in three of her previous seven appearances and hinted at her staying potential last preparation when fifth in the G2 Wakeful Stakes.

Perfect Night was caught wide early at Sale before rider Daniel Stackhouse sent her forward and, from second on the turn, she produced a determined finish in the run home.

“She was a bit stiff at Cranbourne (when runner-up) last time and had trained on well since,” stable representative Annabel Adams said.

“She is in great order and is certainly bred to get a trip.”

We sold Perfect Night at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale for A$240,000 with agent John Foote signing the ticket.

She is a daughter of the Manhattan Rain mare Promise To Reign, who was a five-time Group placegetter and is out of a sister to the G1 Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Spanish Moon.

Promise To Reign produced a colt by Almanzor last season and is in foal to Savabeel.
