House Of Lords provided trainer Peter Gelagotis with a pleasant surprise when she produced a commanding performance to score at Sandown .
The progressive daughter of Almanzor made light of an awkward gate in the hands of jockey Craig Newitt for an impressive second-up win over 1600 metres.
“I didn’t have a lot of confidence after she drew the outside gate, but Craig rode her beautifully,” Gelagotis said.
House Of Lords drifted back in the running before improving widest across the top and held a strong gallop to triumph by three-quarters of a length and improve her record to a quartet of wins and two placings from nine appearances.
“She’s bred in the pink and has aways showed us great ability,” Gelagotis said.
“Her Mum was a superstar in New Zealand, and I can’t wait to step her up in distance.”
Bred by Peter Gillespie and Bill Gleeson, House Of Lords is a daughter of Shez Sinsational, who won at Group 1 level in the Auckland Cup, Zabeel Cassic, Spring Classic and International Stakes.
She has also produced the Group winners Sinharama and House Of Cartier.
