Roger James and Robert Wellwood are keen to test Dance The Night at black-type level following her maiden success at Pukekohe.
The Cambridge trainers have formed a good opinion of the well-related Almanzor three-year-old, who had finished runner-up at her previous outing and went one better in fine style over 1600 metres.
“It was a solid effort, she had to really knuckle down,” Wellwood said.
“Fair pay to the filly and she’s got a big future. We’ll look at a nice stakes race for her now.”
Dance The Night settled back of midfield before improving across the top and rallied strongly to account for her older opposition.
“She was actually in front a long way out and she’s still a bit green, so the more she does the better,” successful rider Matthew Cameron said.
Raced by breeder Gerald Shand, Dance The Night is out of the G1 Thorndon Mile winner and multiple top-flight placegetter Stolen Dance whose two foals to have now been successful.
It is also the family of the Group winners Magic Carpet, The Fuzz, Megabucks and Kainui Belle who was placed in both the New Zealand 2000 and 1000 Guineas.
