The covers came off a much stronger version of Daring Dame at Ruakaka and she duly kicked off her four-year-old season in style.
The Lance Noble-trained daughter of Almanzor was produced in forward condition to resume and, under an ideal ride from Warren Kennedy, broke through over 1200 metres.
Our homebred and raced four-year-old had placed in all four starts last season and a break has done her the world of good.
“She drew one and Warren rode her a treat. She has strengthened between three and four and she will be better again as se gets out over more ground,” Noble said.
Daring Dame settled in behind the leader before angling into the clear soon after straightening and finished resolutely.
“She travelled up nicely in the trail and when I presented her at the 300m, she had a good look around, but got the job done,” Kennedy said.
“She’s going to get up to 2000 metres plus so she’s exciting going forward, one to follow for sure.”
Daring Dame is the last foal of the late Montjeu mare Game Duchess who has produced the Group winners Dark Princess and Exquisite Jewel.
Game Duchess’ half-sister is the G1 Vinery Stud Stakes winner and G1 Australian Oaks runner-up Hiyaam with the fourth dam the broodmare icon Eight Carat.
