Speed merchant goes all the way

Ima Brazen One turned her Trentham record around when she successfully resumed on the capital city course.

The Brazen Beau mare had been winless from three previous visits, but the Mike Breslin-trained speedster bounced back in her fresh state to score over 1000 metres.

Our homebred was quickly into stride to lead under Masa Hashizume and, after surging clear 250 metres from home, held on for the fifth victory of her career and has only missed a top five finish once in 14 starts.

Breslin had expected a top showing from his charge following two impressive lead-up trials.

“I knew she was ready to run a big race, she was probably as forward as I’ve had her to resume,” he said.
