Superstock continued his solid run of form this preparation with another strong display at Ballarat.
The son of the late Tavistock produced a gallant performance to see off his Benchmark 70 opposition over 2000 metres.
Our homebred now has two wins and three minor placings from his last five starts for Flemington trainers Mark and Levi Kavanagh.
Ridden by Joe Bowditch, the five-year-old cruised along in fifth spot away from the rail before improving wide 600 metres from home and held a strong gallop to post the fourth victory of his career.
“I got into a really good spot with him and the tempo was nice,” Bowditch aid.
“On the corner, I put a couple around his backside and he started to pick up and when that other horse came up alongside he out in again. He did feel like he had more in the tank.”
Superstock is the first foal of the Savabeel mare Sistabeel, who was successful on four occasions and had a colt by Armory last season and is now in foal to Hello Youmzain.
Sistabeel is from the family of the South African stakes winners Dance To The Stars and Follow The Star and the Listed Port Adelaide Cup winner Wells Street.
