Our shuttle stallion Hello Youmzain continued his grand run of form when Cream Tart made a bold winning statement at Te Aroha.
He now has five individual New Zealand winners from his first Southern Hemisphere crop and a fast closing second in the race for Champion First Season Sires’ honours.
Cream Tart’s success over 1150 metres was widely anticipated as she had rounded off strongly to finish runner-up on debut at Matamata last month.
The Tony Pike-trained filly was rated by rider Craig Grylls as his best on the card and he was on the money as his mount improved wide out from the back of the field.
She careered away in the run home by seven and a-quarter lengths with a performance that augurs well for her three-year-old season.
Cream Tart was a $220,000 purchase by Pike out of breeder Windsor Park Stud’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale.
She is a half-sister to the dual Group 1winner Mustang Valley with their dam the New Approach mare Cream Of The Crop and the family of former two-time Australian Horse of the Year Might And Power.
