Promising filly Miss Swift lived up to her name on the Caulfield Heath to remain unbeaten this preparation.
The Danny O’Brien-prepared three-year-old had successfully resumed at Geelong last month and made it two on the bounce with a slick display over 1200 metres under apprentice Tom Prebble.
Her success completed a trans-Tasman double for our resident sire Almanzor, whose Shaune Ritchie and Colm Murray-trained son Gate Crashers led all the way at Ellerslie to break his maiden over 1600 metres at his third appearance.
“I’m very happy with her, she showed talent as a two-year-old and being by Almanzor was always going to get better with age,” O’Brien said.
“Tommy rode her very well and she cornered super to put the race to bed early in the straight.”
Miss Swift was quickly into stride to hold the rail and scooted clear on the home turn and held a strong gallop to score by a length.
“She gave me a beautiful ride and when she kicked on the bend I thought she’d be hard to beat,” Stockdale said.
Bred by Nearco Stud, Miss Swift was purchased by O’Brien for $200,000 out of Curraghmore’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale.
She is a half-sister to the G2 Cal Isuzu Stakes winner and two-time Group 1 placegetter Belle Du Nord with their dam the Volksraad mare Bankside Belle.
She won eight times and was stakes placed and her Hello Youmzain colt was sold at Karaka earlier this year for $120,000 to trainer Stephen Gray and Ridgeport Holdings.
