Stromlinien is on target for a return to northern headquarters for a higher prize following a stirring debut victory at Ellerslie.

The exciting daughter of Almanzor came from off the pace with an irresistible finish to score at the first time of asking and book herself a crack at the Karaka Millions.

“There’s no reason not to come back, she’s only going to improve with the run and she’s always showed a lot of class,” trainer Andrew Forsman said.

Stromlinien settled toward the tail of the field and unwound strongly in the run home in the hands of champion jockey Craig Gryll to cut her Karaka Millions odds from $31 to $15.

“She’s a beautiful filly and for a horse that’s only had one trial, she was very professional and got to the line strongly,” he said.

Stromlinien was purchased out of breeder Elsdon Park’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $450,000 by Forsman Racing and Andrew Williams Bloodstock.

She is out of the former quality sprinter Santa Catarina, a daughter of Savabeel who won on five occasions including the Listed Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre Stakes and placed in the G3 Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes and Listed Lightning Handicap.
