Slick filly aces Taupo rivals

The well-related Hot Card launched her three-year-old campaign in perfect style when she scored at Taupo.

Our homebred and raced daughter of Too Darn Hot was given a break by trainer Lance Noble after an unplaced debut run last season, and the filly has showed the benefit of patient handling.

Hot Card was quickly into stride for rider Warren Kennedy to settled in the trail before angling into the clear at the top of the straight.

Under a minimum of urging, she strode to the front soon after and had no trouble holding her rivals at bay by 1.3l.

Noble had been impressed by her lead-up trial win at Te Rapa and had expected a bold showing in her resuming run over 1000 metres.

Hot Card is the first foal of our Savabeel mare Dance Card, who was successful on three occasions up to 2200 metres.

She is out of a half-sister to the multiple Group winner Precedence with the star of the up-front family our late sire Tavistock, who won the G1 Mudgway Partsworld Sprint and G1 Waikato Draught Sprint before a decorated career at stud.

Dance Card produced a colt last season by Hello Youmzain before a successful return visit.
