History repeated for War Eternal at Rosehill where he put away a competitive field of open grade performers over 1400 metres.
Our homebred son of Pierro had finished runner-up at his previous appearance and went one better in style in the skilled hands of Jason Collett.
“He’s been going very well and won third-up last preparation and he’s done it again,” stable representative Luke Hilton said.
“He appreciated the better ground this time and raced away.”
War Eternal settled midfield away from the fence and once he cleared traffic into the straight, quickly took control for his fifth victory and lifted his career earnings to more than A$750,000.
“He’s at the top of his game at the moment so we’ll keep chipping away with him while he’s in such good form,” Hilton said.
War Eternal was bought out of our 2020 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale draft for $160,000 by Baker and Clarke Bloodstock.
He is the first foal of the Fastnet Rock mare Aleria who is also the dam of multiple Victorian winner Undaunting, a daughter of Almanzor we sold to trainer Mark Kavanagh for A$250,000 at the Inglis Premier Melbourne Yearling Sale.
The dam’s Per Incanto colt was purchased out of our 2025 draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale by Hong Kong interests for $300,000.
Back in foal to Almanzor, Aleria is a daughter of the multiple black-type winner Impressive Eagle, a half-sister to the G1 Queensland Derby and G2 HKJC Cup winner Eagle Way, whose half-siblings Assertive Eagle and Soaressa were also successful at black type level.
