Zivou has a lot to live up to on pedigree and the Bivouac three-year-old has made an encouraging start to his career.
We race the homebred who broke his maiden over 1200 metres at Ruakaka at his third appearance for trainers Roger James and Robert Wellwood.
“Everybody in racing knows they (Cambridge Stud) are huge supporters of racing so It’s great to be able to give them a return on their investment,” James said.
“I thought there was plenty of upside to this horse, it’s great to get a result.”
Zivou settled close to the pace and was a willing partner in the run to the line for rider Sarren Kennedy.
“He’s definitely improved a lot and he travelled really well throughout the race,” he said.
Zivou is a son of the Zabeel mare Zonza, who produced a filly by Chaldean last year, and she was a quality performer with her five victories featuring success in the G3 Ladies’ Day Vase at Caulfield.
She has also done us proud as a broodmare as the dam of our G1 Queensland Derby winner Pinarello, the G2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes winner Vernazza and Listed Counties Challenge Stakes winner Bavella.
