Almanzor mare puts on a Show

Progressive mare Diamond Show bounced back to winning ways with a strong first-up performance on her home track.

The daughter of resident stallion Almanzor was produced in prime order by trainer Brad Widdup at Hawkesbury where she successfully lumped 61kg to victory over 1400 metres.

We bred and sold Diamond Show who was purchased by prominent Sydney owner John Cordina under his Summertime Holdings banner for A$340,000 out of our Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale draft in 2023.

Unplaced at her previous outing in June, Diamond Show raced on the pace and proved a willing partner for rider Tyler Shilling to round off strongly in the run home for the third win of her nine-start career.

She is a daughter of the G1 Queensland Oaks runner-up Zenella and the Zabeel mare from the famed Eight Carat family has done a fine job at stud.

All five of her foals to race have been successful and includes the Listed Taranaki Oaks Prelude winer Miss Ella.

We sold Diamond Show’s brother for A$100,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and the now named Giddy Up Bankcheck was later knocked down at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale for $140,000 to Lindsay Park.

A half-sister to the G2 Blazer Stakes winner Forever Loved, Zenella also has a yearling colt by Almanzor and is due to foal to Chaldean.
