House Of Lords looks more than capable of making her mark in the higher grades following her breakthrough victory at Sale.
The well-related daughter of Almanzor has required a patient approach and the four-year-old’s connections have now celebrated their first major result.
House Of Lords was a trial winner at Foxton last spring for Awapuni trainer Peter Didham before she relocated to Peter Gelagotis’ Pakenham operation.
“It’s great to get a horse with plenty of (pedigree) page, she’s quite raw and still got some furnishing to do,” Gelagotis said.
House Of Lords is a half-sister to Group winner and Group 1 placegetters Sinarahma and House Of Cartier with their dam the four-time top-flight winner Shez Sinsational, who’s in foal to Chaldean.
The Peter Gillespie and Bill Gleeson-bred mare had finished runner-up in her Australian debut at Sandown last month and convincingly went one better over 1415 metres at Sale in Ben Allen’s hands.
They settled midfield on the rail before working into the clear at the top of the straight and House Of Lords produced a sustained finish.
“She’s a nice horse and once I gave her a few, she really knuckled down. She was impressive and has got more to come,” Allen said.
