Places To Be pushed Hello Youmzain’s winning Southern Hemisphere tally into double figures with a slick debut performance at Taupo.
The three-year-old daughter of our sire on fire had won two of her three trials and victory at the first time of asking over 1300 metres came as no surprise to trainer Kelly Van Dyk.
“She was very impressive and, to be honest her work had been sensational and I was very happy with the trials,” she said.
Places To Be was first into stride to make the running and she lengthened stride impressively from the top of the straight to romp home by four lengths under Craig Grylls.
“She’s very tough and kudos to the staff at home who have done a great job,” Van Dyk said.
“She’ll go through her grades, and she’s nominated for the 1000 Guineas, but whether we get there or not who knows.”
Places To Be was bred by the Van Dyk’s Prima Park operation with Ben Kwok and they race the filly with Bevan Smith.
She is a daughter of the Pierro mare Socialights whose stakes-placed Fastnet Rock dam Light Express is a half-sister to the three-time South African Group 1 winner Alboran Sea.
