Szeryng has landed the first serious blow of his brief career in Hong Kong.
The three-year-old son of Almanzor was making his third appearance when he produced an impressive display under rider Karis Teetan to win over 1200 metres at Sha Tin.
We bred the three-year-old, who is prepared by John Size and continued the expatriate Australian’s march toward a 13th Trainers’ Premiership.
Szeryng was offered through our Book 1 draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale and sold to Victorian trainer Patrick Payne for $150,000.
He relocated to Size’s operation following a 1000 metre trial success at Seymour last spring.
Szeryng is a son of the Shamexpress mare Choctoc who is a half-sister to the stakes winner Lil Miss Swiss and the family of the multiple Group 1 winner Samantha Miss and fellow top-flight winner Cronus.
Choctoc’s filly by Hello Youmzain sold at Karaka for $150,000 to KPW Bloodstock, of Queensland, and she is back in foal to the son of Kodiac after producing a daughter of Sword Of State last season.
